MyPets+, located in Ciudad de México, México, is responsible for your personal data under Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties. This notice explains what we use, why, who we share it with and how to exercise your rights.
What we collect
We don't collect sensitive personal data. The health information you store is about your pets, not you.
- Account: name, email, mobile number, password (stored hashed), language, postal code and country.
- Pets: name, species, breed, photos, vaccines, medications, weight, allergies, conditions, documents and care notes you or your family add.
- Bookings and messages: appointments you book, reviews, and messages you send to people or businesses.
- Community: posts, comments, likes, reports, and how often a post is viewed.
- Location: the location you share to find nearby services (not stored) and the approximate location (rounded to ~1 km) you choose to add to a post.
- QR tag: when someone scans your pet's tag we store the message and contact they leave, their approximate location and IP address.
- Businesses: business details, location, hours, services, team, and verification documents (such as RFC or professional license).
- Payments: the status of your plan or promotion. Card details are handled by Stripe, Apple or Google; we never see them.
- Technical data: active sessions, IP address and server logs for security.
Why we use it
Purposes needed to provide the service:
- Create and secure your account and sign you in.
- Store your pets' records and share them with your family and the businesses you give access to.
- Send reminders (vaccines, medications, appointments) by email, WhatsApp or SMS.
- Book appointments and let owners and businesses message each other.
- Run the community, the services search and the QR tag.
- The health assistant and automatic features (spam detection, image descriptions for screen readers, reading documents).
- Moderate content, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
- Charge for business plans and promotions.
Optional purposes
With your permission we also use your data to send the weekly summary, alerts for your area (heat, seasons, vaccination drives) and, if you turn it on, personalized Google ads.
You can say no or change your mind any time in Account, without affecting the service.
Artificial intelligence
Some features use third-party AI models through Vercel AI Gateway. For private data (records, assistant conversations, documents) we only use providers that don't train their models on your data.
The health assistant gives guidance but isn't a vet and doesn't diagnose.
Who we share it with
Only who's needed to provide the service, and we never sell your data:
- Family members and businesses you give access to a pet.
- Providers that run the service for us: Railway (servers and storage), Twilio (WhatsApp and SMS), Resend (email), Stripe and RevenueCat (payments), Vercel (AI models), Open-Meteo (weather by postal code, no personal data) and Google AdSense (ads, when enabled).
- Authorities, when a law or court order requires it.
Lost pets and sightings
If you report a loose animal, we keep your photo, the exact place (only if you allow it), the time and your note. AI compares the photo only with pets reported lost nearby. The exact place and your messages are seen only by the family who confirms it's their pet; they're never published. No account needed, and we don't ask for your phone number.
Business directory
So you can find care nearby, we show pet businesses using public data from OpenStreetMap (© its contributors, ODbL licence), INEGI's national business register (DENUE) and the business's own website: name, address, phone, website and services. These profiles say "Unclaimed" until the business claims them. If you own one and want it corrected or removed, claim it or write to privacidad@mypets.plus.
Transfers outside Mexico
Several of these providers process data in the United States. These transfers are needed to provide the service, and the providers are contractually bound to protect your data to the standard of this notice.
Cookies and ads
We use cookies needed to keep you signed in. We don't use our own tracking cookies.
If Google AdSense ads appear in the app, they're non-personalized by default (based on the page, not on you). You can turn on personalized ads in Account. Local business promotions are shown by distance and never use your activity.
Your ARCO rights and how to use them
You can access, correct, delete or object to the use of your data, and withdraw consent or limit its use.
In the app: download your data and delete your account in Account → Privacy and your data; correct your information on each screen.
By email: write to privacidad@mypets.plus with your name, your account's contact method and your request. We answer within 20 business days and, if it applies, carry it out within the following 15 business days.
If you think we didn't handle your request properly, you can go to the personal data protection authority.
How long we keep your data
While your account is open, and afterwards as set out in our data retention policy. When you delete your account, everything is erased within 30 days.
Minors
MyPets+ is for people 18 and older. If you're younger, use the app with a responsible adult who creates the account.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
